Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took them several years to do. After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there would be a second season and that production would take less time.

This has no pretensions to being as good as it is. I mean, it’s based on a video game.
Since when did that ever turn into anything better than passable?
But even so, this is one of the best series I’ve seen in a long time. I just watched the first episode of the new adaptation of The Wheel of Time and was disappointed by this one, was looking for something else and happened to see that this was getting good reviews. I quickly grew to like it and binge-watched the whole season in one go. Arcane does everything right that goes wrong with so many series and movies these days. They respect all of their characters and make sure you understand why they do what they do and that you sympathize with them.
And something that’s so rare these days
They take just the right amount of time to draw you into the story and the world before major plot points happen, so you can really feel their impact. They set things up well in advance and make sure you get a proper payoff, so nothing feels rushed or cheap. They’re not afraid to give all of their characters flaws and let them fail, no matter what gender they are or how powerful they’re supposed to be. This is a show with two main female characters, both of whom can overpower anyone, and neither of them feels like they don’t deserve it. And not once do they feel the need to put men down to show how cool they are.
Special mention goes to the animators
Take note, creators of other shows, this is how you write powerful characters, regardless of gender, that your audience can feel invested in. Kudos to you for managing to create characters that can convey both strong and subtle emotions more clearly than most real actors can. And also kudos to the choice of voice actors and music, both are top notch. All in all, a very entertaining show that gives me a glimmer of hope for future entertainment and makes me look forward to the second season.
